‘Embrace CBN Cashless Policy For National Growth’ – Mr. Chris Ife (MD/CEO Globasure Technologies Limited)

The CHIEF Executive Officer and the Managing Director, Globasure Technologies Limited, Mr Chris Ife, advised stakeholders in the financial sector to embrace the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ’s cash-less policy for national growth and development.

Mr Chris,  gave the advice at the ATM & CARD EXPO, that took place recently at Eko Hotel and Suites on 11th – 13th of June, 2013.

Knowing that Some economists and bank customers had earlier expressed dissatisfaction with the implementation of the pilot scheme of the cash-lite policy, which was introduced by the CBN in Lagos.

However, Mr Chris Ife  reasoned that the policy would create a solid platform on which the national economy could thrive.

Mr Chris Said that “The CBN is doing a terrific job. Looking at couple of years from now people will realise that what Mallam Lamido Sanusi is doing is a great thing for Nigeria because being cashless is a prerequisite for development. You cannot be carrying cash around and expect efficiency.

“In the UK and United States almost everybody has a bank account to make financial transactions. Going cashless empowers the citizens and gives them ability to pay for goods and services or send money without having to be there physically. What that means is efficiency.”

The MD/CEO  said that transactions could be done on customers’ cell phones rather than spending an hour or two going to the bank to withdraw money and depositing in another person’s bank account.

Adding that, “With cashless policy man hour is saved. If you want to withdraw money on the V-Cash, for instance, all you need do is to go to an agent down the road and draw your cash. All Nigerians should embrace it.

“The thinking that the reality of the market situation in developed countries like the UK and America are different is not the issue here. If you don’t start something you don’t realise its potentials and relevance. Those who think going cashless will not work are wrong. They should accept the fact that it will work in spite of the different climes. After all, the GSM is a success story today”. Mr Chris advised.
